Lenovo ThinkPad P1 and ThinkPad P72 Announced as the Thinnest and Lightest Professional Notebook


Lenovo unveiled its two new Thinkpads, among the two Lenovo has introduced its thinnest workstation ever till date – the Thinkpad P1, while the other one released is Thinkpad P72 having powerful specs, scheduled to launch later in this month.

Both P1 and P72 have their own qualifications to embrace and come with 8th Gen Intel Core and Xeon processors. The P1 will be priced at $ 1949 while P72 would cost at $1799. The P1 breaks the earlier experience of heavy Thinkpads as P1 offers a reduction in size by 35 percent.

The P1 is 18.4 mm thin and weighs 3.76 pounds making it Lenovo’s thinnest and lightest workstation laptop ever. The resolution is 4K with a screen size 15.6-inch screen. On the front of supporting graphics, it has NVIDIA’s Quadro P series graphics cards making a better choice for professionals. Powered by 8th Gen Intel Core processor it could clock speed up to 4.6GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 memory and a decent 4TB storage for processing and storage. On the power consumption and power supply thing it would be provided with an 80WHr battery and an external 135-watt power supply.

“When we set out to create the ThinkPad P1, we knew our challenge was to build a mobile workstation that would carry the legacy of professional power and reliability of our ThinkPad portfolio, but also meet our customer’s need for a thin, light, and sleek design,” says Rob Herman, Lenovo’s general manager of workstations.

The next in the offering is P72. Powered with a variety of eighth-generation Core and Xeon processor options and it is equipped with Nvidia’s Quadro P5200 graphics chip and system memory up to a massive 128GB and 6GB of Optane memory and up to 6TB of storage. The workstation would be powered by a 99WHr battery and 230-watt external power supply. Operating system choices include Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, Windows 10 Pro, Ubuntu Linux and Red Hat Linux.
