WhatsApp Messenger which is one of the most popular messaging apps is tipped to getting some new features. The latest version of WhatsApp beta has hinted at the addition of some new features such as advanced search, backup password protection, and auto media download rules.

According to a report from WABetaInfo, the 2.20.117 update of WhatsApp will include these three above mentioned features. WABetaInfo reported that 2.20.117 version of WhatsApp will include an Advanced Search feature that will let you search for specific file types including documents, videos, images, and audio files.

The Advanced Search feature has already rolled out for those on the iOS beta program but it’s unclear when the enhanced search options might come to the Android version. This feature will work differently than any other feature on WhatsApp. Once you search for a particular file type, you’ll be able to see your unique color-coded search filter within the search bar. Corresponding results will appear beneath the results panel.

Coming to the backup password protection. This feature was spotted earlier on WhatsApp beta v2.20.66 where users can set a password of their chat backups on Google Drive. And now, this feature is reportedly set to arrive in the latest release of WhatsApp. This feature can be accessed from Chat backup settings which would easily encrypt your chat backups with a password.

At last, WhatsApp is looking forward to solving one of the biggest issues of the platform – auto-downloads. WhatsApp automatically downloads media when they are received from any other users. Due to this, some unwanted media are also saved on the local storage creating some issues. And now, WhatsApp is working on to disable auto-download of frequently forwarded messages that include images, videos, documents, and voice messages.
