In just under a month, Universal Pictures will release the hounds with its new R-rated comedy Strays. The film follows Reggie (Will Ferrell) on his quest for revenge against his abusive owner Doug (Will Forte), who kicked him to the curb. Before the dogs hit the big screen, players can join in on the adventure through a tie-in game on the film’s website. The goal of the game is to catch Doug and bite off his favorite appendage, all while earning points. The game is available for free on the film’s official website.

Players will take control of Reggie and his foul-mouthed, fast-talking friend Bug (Jamie Foxx) as they navigate the city streets and countryside, reliving some of the film’s most memorable scenes. The gameplay is simple – jump over obstacles by tapping the screen or clicking, and earn extra points by rapidly clicking or tapping when encountering objects like couches or gnomes to hump them. Pickups such as pizza, beer, and mushrooms will replenish Reggie and Bug’s health or grant them special powers. Bonus points can be earned by biting the mailman or catching rabbits. The game ends either when the player runs out of health or when Doug’s appendage is successfully bitten off. At the end, players will be evaluated based on their biting skills.

The comedic pixel game provides entertainment to viewers while they await the release of Strays later this summer. It also serves as a reminder of the laughs to come in director Josh Greenbaum’s latest film, who aims to create a raunchy parody of classic talking dog movies. Greenbaum, along with producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, has crafted a film with both comedic and emotional depth, showcasing the similarities between dogs and humans.
