Supernatural star Jensen Ackles has expressed interest in taking on a major role in an upcoming superhero blockbuster. However, despite his enthusiasm, he is unwilling to let go of a role that he almost secured.
During a Q&A panel at the Jus In Bello Convention in Italy, Ackles was asked about the rumors surrounding his potential casting as Batman in James Gunn’s Batman: The Brave and The Bold. Speculation suggests he is one of the top contenders for the role. While there hasn’t been much information about auditions for the next Batman movie, Ackles has expressed his interest, although he neither confirmed nor denied auditioning for it.
“Uh, I don’t know. Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I want to do it? Yes.”
While fans were excited about Ackles’ interest in joining the DC Extended Universe, he humorously acknowledged the fact that he lost the role of Joel Miller to Pedro Pascal for the HBO series The Last of Us. Ackles joked on stage that if Pascal passes on a role, he should let him know so that Ackles can take it.
“Will I be mad when Pedro Pascal gets it? Yeah. God bless you, Pedro. You just keep killing it, buddy. Let me know when you pass on something.”
Ackles has been voicing Batman since 2010 and will reprise the role in Justice League: Warworld, set to be released in 2023. With his experience and talent, hopefully James Gunn is considering him for the role of the Dark Knight.
A release date for Batman: The Brave and the Bold has yet to be announced. The only update so far is that The Flash director, Andy Muschietti, is DC’s top choice to direct the film. However, the ongoing writers’ strike has delayed the script’s development.
