iPhone users get a more interactive experience with third-party messaging apps through iOS 17

When an Apple iPhone user is unable to physically type out a message to another smartphone user, Siri can handle the task. Simply say, “Hey Siri, send a message to Johnny Appleseed.” Siri will prompt you to enter the message and confirm if you want to send it. It’s important to note that the recipient must be in your contacts list.
By default, Siri sends messages using iMessage or SMS, but compatible third-party messaging platforms can be requested. However, not all third-party messaging platforms currently have this capability with Siri. According to a report by 9to5Mac, iOS 17 will provide a list of available third-party options. In the latest build, iOS 17 Beta 2, when you ask Siri to send a message, a visual display of different apps that can send the message will appear.
In iOS 16, you had to verbally request Siri to send a message via WhatsApp or another compatible third-party platform. However, in iOS 17, users will see a list of messaging platforms installed on their iPhones that are compatible with Siri. This list will include options like WhatsApp, Telegram, and others. Not only will Siri in iOS 17 allow you to change messaging platforms, but the virtual assistant’s user interface will also enable you to edit the recipient and the message before sending it.
The public beta program for iOS 17 is expected to launch later this summer, with the final version rolling out in September alongside the release of the iPhone 15 series. During Apple’s WWDC developer conference, they showcased some of the changes coming to iOS 17, including StandBy mode, which transforms the iPhone screen into a smart display when charging in landscape orientation.

Other new features include the ability to leave a video message when the recipient doesn’t answer a FaceTime call, and iPhone users will receive a new iMessage alert when a friend or family member reaches their destination.
