When it comes to the desired improvements in a new smartphone model, bezels are not typically a top priority for most people. Unfortunately, the evolution of related technologies, like under-display sensors, has been limited, leaving smartphone manufacturers with few options other than exploring different form factors.

Apple, in particular, has long had a vision of an all-screen slab phone. While it may take years before such an iPhone is released, Apple is attempting to make other refinements, such as reducing the bezels for the iPhone 15 Pro.
3D artist Ian Zelbo has created renders that demonstrate the significant progress in iPhone screen design. Although yearly changes may not seem substantial, the difference between the iPhone 11 Pro from 2019 and the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro, assuming the leaks are accurate, is quite remarkable.

By today’s standards, the iPhone 11 Pro has thick bezels and a notch that occupies a significant portion of the screen’s topmost area.

In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro has replaced the notch with a pill-shaped cutout called the Dynamic Island. Combined with the slimmer bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro, this gives the new model a much more futuristic appearance compared to the iPhone 11 Pro.

The only downside is that the Dynamic Island, although smaller than the notch, appears more prominent due to the slimmed-down bezels. It is the same size as last year, potentially requiring us to wait until at least 2026 for an iPhone without any type of cutout.

Returning to the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple has made more progress in terms of the front design compared to Samsung’s high-end phones, as insider Ice Universe has pointed out. While the front design of the Note 10 Plus, released in 2019 alongside the iPhone 11 Pro, has remained largely unchanged, Samsung has introduced numerous other advancements, including better screens, high-resolution cameras, and impressive zoom capabilities. Additionally, the iPhone’s back design has remained the same for a significant period of time.
