If we talk about Apple’s recent update, the latest MacBooks have included a new hardware compatibility feature for MacBook users that disconnects hardware microphones when the lid of the MacBook is closed. The feature was added to secure the microphone’s connection when not in use and also came as a new security feature.
Now, Apple is planning to bring the same Hardware Microphone Disconnect feature to the latest 2020 iPad Pro. Yes, you heard it right, the company has decided to bring this feature for the latest 2020 iPad Pro.
If we go by history, Apple has brought up this hardware compatibility feature in the year 2018 in the MacBooks with Apple’s T2 security tip. New iPad Pro comes with a case, when the user closes down the case, the security feature will disconnect the microphone. Apple Platform’s latest security update on the official platform reveals about the availability of this new feature.
“iPad models beginning in 2020 also feature the hardware microphone disconnect. When an MFI compliant case (including those sold by Apple) is attached to the iPad and closed, the microphone is disconnected in hardware, preventing microphone audio data being made available to any software—even with root or kernel privileges in iPadOS or in case the firmware is compromised.”
Apart from this, the official document released by Apple reveals six new security features added to the devices. Here, we have enlisted all the newly added security features and fixes on the iPad Pro and other compatible Apple devices.
- Advanced Malware Removal Tool to protect your system from malware attacks.
- Data Vaults to secure your personal information.
- New updates for setting up users’ account, organization setup and much more.
- Updates to shared iPads and other Apple devices under the same environment or with the same Apple ID.
- New Security and Privacy Certificates for the updated Apple Devices
These are all the security and privacy-related features added by Apple to the latest iPad Pro and other devices with the latest update.
All the apps running on iOS or iPadOS 13.4 will be covered under the data vault. This will prevent third-party apps from accessing your personal data.
