Invincible Will (Finally) Win Fights in Season 2

Mark Grayson’s inaugural season as a superhero in the hit series “Invincible” was a tumultuous journey filled with challenges and defeats. However, as Season 2 approaches, a shift is on the horizon. Mark’s growth and experience will lead him to more victories, although these wins might not always be as straightforward as they seem. This season introduces a new nemesis, Angstrom Levy, a villain who can traverse multiple dimensions. Mark will be forced to rely on his wit and skills, rather than just his physical strength, to overcome this formidable foe.

In Season 1, Mark struggled to find his footing as a superhero while also dealing with personal issues, such as his complicated relationship with his girlfriend, Amber. Additionally, he discovered that his father, Omni-Man, had ulterior motives on Earth. This season was marked by numerous defeats, as Mark faced formidable opponents like the Flaxans, Allen the Alien, Battle Beast, and ultimately, his own father.

However, Season 2 promises a change in fortune, as series creator Robert Kirkman assures fans that Mark will start accumulating wins. While victory won’t always come easily, Mark’s organic growth as a hero and as an individual has made “Invincible” one of the standout adult animated series of 2021. With more experience, Mark will be able to face new adversaries, including Angstrom Levy, portrayed by Sterling K. Brown. Levy’s introduction will test Mark’s limits and enforce the idea that winning isn’t always black and white. As Kirkman puts it, “Maybe in some ways, a win is a loss.”

“Invincible” emphasizes that heroism isn’t solely determined by wins and losses. Atom Eve reminds Mark that it’s about saving lives and protecting the people. While defeating the villains that threaten Earth won’t be a simple task, Mark’s struggles won’t be limited to physical combat. Levy’s ability to traverse dimensions poses a significant challenge, and without the presence of Omni-Man, Mark must rely on his experience and intelligence to save the day.

Season 2 promises to expand the series further, introducing new characters and deeper storylines in Mark Grayson’s life. Fans can expect a thrilling continuation, with a stellar cast returning alongside a talented group of newcomers. The upcoming season will be split into two halves, allowing the story to unfold organically. The first half of Season 2 premieres on November 3, 2023, with the second half following in early 2024.

While eagerly awaiting the next installment, fans can enjoy the Atom Eve origin special currently available for streaming. Additionally, Collider’s Perri Nemiroff conducted a comprehensive interview with Robert Kirkman about the future of “Invincible,” providing further insight into what fans can anticipate.
