Intel Arrow Lake CPUs are on track – and that’s crucial due to AMD’s big Ryzen 8000 threat

Intel reassured us in their Q2 2023 earnings call that their upcoming processor ranges are on track for launch. In fact, they may even be ahead of schedule, according to a report from Wccftech.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger confirmed that all their programs are either on or ahead of schedule. They remain committed to releasing 5 nodes in 5 years and regaining leadership in transistor and power performance by 2025.

The next-generation chips from Intel, Meteor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh for desktops, are set to launch in the second half of 2023. Additionally, Arrow Lake, which will follow these chips, has entered production and will likely launch in 2024.

Timing is crucial for Intel’s Arrow Lake release, particularly in the desktop market. While Raptor Lake Refresh offers a modest upgrade, rumors suggest that AMD’s Ryzen 8000 (Zen 5) processors may be ready for release in Q3 2024. If Arrow Lake is delayed until late 2024, it could struggle against AMD’s anticipated leap forward.

However, if the rumors are true and Arrow Lake proves to be a major leap for Intel, both their 15th-gen and Ryzen 8000 ranges could perform well in processor rankings. Nonetheless, if Ryzen 8000 releases much earlier than Intel’s 15th-gen, it could undermine some of Intel’s recent gains in the desktop market.
