Instagram had a history of adding new features on a regular basis to improve its platform. The company had recently introduced IGTV videos and also testing Stories reactions. Now, the company seems to be working on the UI to improve the navigation of the app.
According to the reports, in the Instagram latest beta app (build 58.0.0.0.10), the company is testing to switch DM icon and Profile icon. Currently, the DM icon rests on the top right, and the profile icon in the navigation bar at the bottom right. Instagram is swapping their positions in this test. The reason behind this, most people use the DMs more than the profile switching, so it makes sense to make the DMs more easily accessible. When a user performs a left swipe gesture it will no longer open the messaging page like before. In order to view the active profile, a user will need to tap on the new icon which is placed at the top right and will need to long-press it in order to toggle between accounts.
Apart from this, the company is also testing to replace the large camera icon in the DM from the standard navigation bar and experimenting with a quick access bar of emoji in the comments section of each post. These emoji appear to based off of whatever you last used. All of the above-mentioned changes are currently in testing mode, we have to wait to see the final output after the next big update.
