Facebook-owned Instagram stated in July last year that it had begun testing a feature that was then known as Favourites. It had decided to create this feature in an effort to transform the friends list and motivate users to share more by limiting the set of followers to who the posts can be shared to.
In the wake of the increasing popularity of Finstagram – private IG accounts that are followed only by the close peers of the user – the company decided to provide users additional tools to ease private sharing, with a package of functionalities that affected approximately each segment of the app.
Around a year and a half later, Instagram has launched its take on personal sharing, and it does not look as it did a year ago. Renamed as Close Friends, this newly added feature is restricted to Stories. Even though it has been tuned down from is older variant, Close Friends might still remould the social dynamics on the social network.
In order to use Close Friends just launch the Stories camera and snap a picture or record a video. After finishing the job of taking a shot, users will be able to see a freshly added green and white icon with a star. Upon hitting the icon, the Close Friends List will open.
More users can be added to the list and existing ones can be easily removed. In the Suggestions tab, users can see recommendations for their Close Friends List based on the people they mostly interact with. The search box will help users in locating their friends easily.
After setting up the list, users can share to the selected friends by pressing the green and white icon whenever they take a picture or video for Stories. Close friends do not receive any notification as and when they are added or removed from the Close Friends list. Stay tune with TechnoCodex for more updates.
