In the history of Instagram, we can see that it is gradually improving and getting a lot of updates just for a better user experience, but we can’t almost see an update for the desktop version of the social media platform. Now, the desktop version finally had its update, it is the new push notification feature for the betterment of Instagram’s desktop service.
You will see a message asking for permission for a push notification when you open Instagram on your web browser. These notifications include new followers, likes and comments update. According to Android Police, this new feature is working with Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and other browsers as well. This can be considered a kick start for the development of Instagram’s web version.
The new option is available for Instagram Lite as well. Instagram Lite, the service’s alternative low-data and low-resource app. The lightweight version of the app suitable for the people having a phone with small RAM and storage, as well as for places with the slow internet connection.
This new update will give people a better experience and the chance to enjoy an Instagram that’s almost as good as its main application. Even though the web and lite version of Instagram doesn’t have some features yet. You can’t upload videos for example, and direct messages are not supported.
We can see that the company is now working to improve each of the versions of Instagram, but it is unclear yet if they will make the web and lite versions become just like the main application having such complete and useful features. But we can expect that the development will still go on to fill the gap between their social media versions for the different platforms.
