Instagram Direct Messages may still be coming to the Desktop

Undoubtedly, Instagram is one of the most popular social platforms. However, this social media platform only targets mobile users, with a relatively sparse desktop UI and small images given the large amount of desktop real estate. Still, the desktop version isn’t that useful as of mobile platform. But now, it looks like the company has started working on the desktop platform to make it more useful.

Now, the company is working on adding DM’s to web UI. This new feature has been spotted by developer Jane Manchun Wong who is known for diving deep into code to find hidden upcoming features.

Wong notes that conversations are listed on a sidebar in an interface akin to Facebook Messengers. Mark Zuckerberg has already announced he plans to allow you to communicate between Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp down the road – to the chagrin of German regulators – so it’s not surprising the apps would share a similar UI.

This feature is going to be helpful for heavy insta users or those who have been handling the business account on Instagram. Responding to a few messages on your phone is okay, but dozens or hundreds of them is not quite so fun. You need a proper keyboard for that. And with desktop mode, one can easily manage tons of messages and can respond to them quickly.
