WhatsApp is most popular instant messaging application and growing steadily with over 1.2 billion users globally, The company has constantly added new features to its platform, after intensive testing, WhatsApp started rolling out the video calling feature in November last year across all platforms globally. Now, after six months of the feature being live, WhatsApp has shared some interesting numbers related to video calling.
WhatsApp has announced that India is the top country in the world to use the video calling feature, India records over 50 million video calling minutes per day. On a global scale, WhatsApp has more than 340 million video calling minutes per day, with total number of 55 million video calls per day.
WhasApp is having 1.2 billion users globally, and over 200 million monthly active users in India and out of the 340 million video calling minutes per day, 50 million video calling minutes are from India alone. One of the reasons for this growth can be credited to the access of 4G network and rise in 4G smartphone usage in India. Also, also we have seen a huge price drop in data charges. This price drop and Jio free data service enable more users in India to connect with the internet.
WhatsApp recently also introduced a separate video calling button for Android users and making the calling feature kept really simple especially if they are not tech savvy or new smartphone users. Recently, WhatsApp also revamped its Status feature and bring video and photo status like other competitors the Status got a separate tab where users could share media content with their contacts for 24 hours, while the original text Status that showed up in profile info was also get back after huge demand.
