If you’ve ever used a cheat in Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone, Call of Duty is coming for you

Activision Blizzard remains committed to detecting and banning cheaters in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. Thanks to the efforts of Ricochet and advanced detection techniques, over 14,000 accounts have been banned from these two games.

Recently, the Call of Duty Updates Twitter account shared the results of this ban wave. The developer was able to target cheat developers at the source, thanks to new detections. While specific details are not provided in the tweet, it seems that the anti-cheat teams were able to identify hackers based on the source of the cheats they purchased.

This means that the detection and ban process went beyond simply punishing individual bad actors. By identifying certain styles of cheats, the developers were able to detect and ban everyone utilizing those cheats, which is a significant accomplishment.

This bodes well for the upcoming year of Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 3 is highly anticipated and is expected to be officially revealed in Warzone as part of the game’s fifth season.

In a first-time move, weapons, bundles, operators, and skins from Modern Warfare 2 will carry forward into this year’s Call of Duty. Though the official name has not been confirmed, leaks suggest it will be Modern Warfare 3, developed by Sledgehammer Games.

More information about Call of Duty 2023 will be shared later this month.
