Hundreds of Samsung Smartphones Crashed Overnight Following Black Screen, Garbled Characters, Unlimited Restart Issues
Today morning, a weird thing happened with hundreds of Samsung users in China when their phones started to crash with black screens, garbled characters, and infinite restarts.
Within a few hours, this issue was reported from multiple users. This issue was affecting multiple models of Samsung devices including Samsung Galaxy S8, S9, S10, and other old models. Users affected by this issue started posting the screenshot of their crashed phone on Weibo.
Looking at the screenshots posted on Weibo, the issue appears to be a server-side problem. An initial investigation on this issue found that a bug in the April update on Samsung smartphones caused this crash issue that ships and older version of the lock screen app.
Well, the good thing is, not all smartphones of Samsung has been affected by this issue. Also, looking forward to this issue, Samsung mobile phone official responded that it has received feedback from some users, is currently actively investigating the cause, and providing corresponding solutions as soon as possible.
Well, until the official support arrives, affected users can try these temporary solutions.
- Restart the phone
- Double-click the power button to turn on the camera
- Open the camera settings in the upper left corner
- Pull down the notification bar to enter the settings
- Find the lock screen, click on it, and click on the lock screen to update.
