Huawei to replace Android with HarmonyOS and P30 Pro and P40 Pro owners could be first up

Huawei is busy prepping their upcoming Android rival – HarmonyOS – which the Shenzhen-based tech giant has already confirmed will be launching in 2021. At the recent Huawei Develop Conference it was revealed that the first Huawei devices pre-installed with HarmonyOS will be dropping next year. And following on from this major announcement a new leak could have revealed which existing Huawei handsets will be getting the big software update first.

As revealed in a post by Huawei Central, an alleged leak has outlined what Huawei and Honor devices could be getting HarmonyOS to start with.

The official roadmap for HarmonyOS says the upcoming Android rival will begin with by supporting devices such as wearables which have up to 128MB of RAM.

This will be followed by Huawei smartphones and tablets which have up to 4GB of RAM.

By the end of 2021 this RAM limit will be increased, paving the way for more flagships to get HarmonyOS.

The official roadmap seems to suggest flagship devices – which have more RAM than their budget counterparts – will be getting HarmonyOS later than other devices.

But a new leak from a tipster on Chinese social networking giant Weibo hints flagships could be getting a HarmonyOS update earlier than that.
