Huawei Announced MateBook 14, Upgraded MateBook X Pro, and Availability of MateBook 13 at MWC 2019


At an event held on Sunday at Mobile World Congress 2019, Huawei has announced the new MateBook 14 and an upgraded version of MateBook X Pro. They also announced the global availability of MateBook 13 which was announced back at CES 2019 last month. However, their main focus was on the launch of MateBook 14 and on the upgraded MateBook X Pro. MateBook X Pro (2019) carries high-end specifications and targets the consumers who want the best laptop technology, while the MateBook 13 and MateBook 14 targets the regular customers who expect high productivity.

Huawei MateBook 14 Specifications

The all new Huawei MateBook 14 features a 14-inch FullView IPS touch display with 3:2 aspect ratio and has 2K (2160×1440 pixels) resolution. This display has just 4.9mm thin bezel at the sides and on the top giving it a premium look.  Apart from this, MateBook 14 runs on the latest Windows 10 operating system.

Furthermore, Huawei MateBook 14 will be coming in two variants, one is with 8th generation Intel Core i5-8265U coupled with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage while another one will come with 8th generation Intel i7-8565U coupled with 16GB RAM and the same 512GB of storage. Also, both of these variants will come with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU.

In addition to this,  It has a 57.4Wh battery which offers up to 10.5 hours of web browsing, 14 hours of office work, or 15 hours of video playback, as per the lab tests of Huawei. Also, this laptop comes with a 65W power adapter which supports fast charging and can provide 3 hours of battery power in just 15 minutes of charging. Other features of this MateBook 14 laptop includes a fingerprint button, Dolby Atmos support, and Amazon Alexa and Microsoft Cortona voice assistant support.

Also, this laptop is rich in connectivity options as there is one USB Type-C, one HDMI, one USB Type-A 3.0, and one USB Type-A 2.0 ports. In addition, MateBook 14 and MateBook X Pro (2019) both feature a number of Softwares built by Huawei including the Huawei Share 3.0 OneHop to share your files on the go between other laptops and smartphones.

Huawei MateBook X Pro (2019) Specifications

Huawei MateBook X Pro (2019) has the same design and connectivity options as that was on the first-generation of Huawei MateBook X Pro. However, it has some minor tweaks in its software and specifications. The laptop features a 13.9 Ultra-FullView touch screen display with 3:2 aspect ratio and has 3K (3000×2000 pixels) resolution. Similar to MateBook 14, this laptop also runs on the latest Windows 10 OS.

MateBook X Pro (2019) shares the same processor and GPU options as that of MateBook 14. But it comes with a higher storage variant of 1TB. Similar to its previous model, it has two USB Type-C and one USB-A port; however, the Thunderbolt port has been upgraded to the full four lanes of bandwidth adding the capability to support external GPUs in it. Meanwhile, Huawei MateBook X Pro (2019) sports 57.4Wh battery for longer battery backup.

Huawei MateBook 13 Specifications

Huawei MateBook 13 features a 13-inch FullView touch screen display with 3:2 aspect ratio and has 2K (2160×1440 pixel) resolution. It is powered by 8th Generation Intel Core i7 or i5 coupled with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB SSD. Similar to MateBook 14, this laptop also features a fingerprint button, two USB Type-C ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack. In addition, MateBook 13 is packed up with 41.8Wh battery.

Huawei MateBook Series Price and Availability

According to Huawei, the Core i5+8GB RAM variant will be available at a price tag of EUR 1,599 while the Core i7+16GB RAM variant will cost EUR 1,999. While on the other hand, the Core i5+8GB RAM variant of MateBook 14 will cost EUR 1,999 and the Core i7+16GB RAM will start at EUR 1,499. At the last, MateBook 13 will start from EUR 999 and will go up to 1,399.

As far as the availability of these laptops is concerned, MateBook X Pro (2019) and MateBook 14 will be available from April 2019 in the selected markets around the Globe. While the MateBook 13 will be available from the last of this month.
