After a long wait, finally, the HTC U11 starts getting Android 8.0 Oreo update in Europe and other EMEA countries. The company could soon roll out the latest update in other regions as well.
The update is about 1.31GB in size and carries a version 2.33.401.10. The update should pop up in the notification as soon as it becomes available for your device. Its an incremental OTA (over the air) update, so it may take a while until it arrives at all eligible devices, users can also manually check for the update by heading to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for update.
The latest update brings a host of system enhancements. However, HTC didn’t disclose further details of what is presented in the referred Oreo version. It comes with all Android 8.0 Oreo features including Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, Audio API for Pro Audio, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, WebView enhancements and much more.
To recall, The HTC U11 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with the HTC Sense skin on top. The phone sports a 5.5” Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The phone is powered by a 2.45GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. It offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.
In terms of photography, The HTC U11 features a 12MP rear camera with the company’s UltraPixel 3 one. It has 1.4μm pixel size, UltraSpeed Autofocus, BSI sensor and OIS, ƒ/1.7 aperture, Dual-LED flash, slow motion and 4K video recording. On the front, there is a 16MP camera with BSI sensor, 1080p video recording, it features live make-up, auto Selfie, voice selfie, HDR Boost, and Selfie Panorama options.
The HTC U11 is powered by a 3000mAh battery which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. and claims to deliver up to 24.5 hours of talk time, and 14 days of standby time. Connectivity options for the HTC U11 include GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, USB 3.1 Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz & 5GHz), and NFC support. HTC U11 has ditched the standard 3.5-mm audio jack. Sensors on the HTC U11 are an Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor Motion G-sensor, Compass sensor, Gyro sensor, Magnetic sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Sensor Hub, Edge Sensor.
