How to make texts larger on Android, iOS, and Desktop

Larger texts on Android

Android gives you the flexibility to increase the text size of only particular things or of the complete UI. So, we will cover both of them here one by one.

  1. To increase the text size

  • Go to the system settings, and head into the “Accessibility” section.
  • Find and tap on the “Font Size” option, then adjust the slider to make the font larger as much as you want.

  • Go to the system settings, and head into the “Accessibility” section.
  • Tap on the “Display size” option (available on phones running 2016 on Android 7.0 Nougat release and higher).
  • Adjust your screen’s resolution to where you are comfortable.
  1. Activate Magnification Feature

This feature lets you magnify/zoom the area you tap on the screen to make it larger until you don’t lift your fingers up from the screen.

  • Go back to the “Accessibility” section.
  • Tap on the “Magnification” option.

  • Tap “Accessibility,” then adjust the “Text scaling” slider until the text is comfortable for you to read.

Larger texts on iOS

Like Android, iOS also allows you to increase the text size as per your desire. It also gives you a couple of options to choose from where you want to enlarge the texts.

  1. To increase the text size

  • Go to your system settings, and head on to the “Display & Brightness” section.
  • Tap the “Text Size” option, then adjust the slider to make the font larger as much as you want.
  • In case, if you want to make the text even larger than that slider will allow, go back to the main settings menu, tap “General” > “Accessibility” > “Larger text.” That will let you increase the text size using the same slider at the bottom of the screen.
  1. Activate Zoom Feature

On iOS, “Zoom” feature works in the same way as the “Magnification” feature works on the Android.

  • Go to the system settings, then head on to the “General” section and get into the Accessibility section.
  • Tap on “Zoom,” and toggle the feature on.
  • You will now have a window that you can move around the screen to magnify anything on that screen. Double-tap with three fingers to remove the window or bring it back again.

Larger texts on Computer

Most of the desktop browsers come with some keyboard shortcut to increase the text size on the go. However, these shortcuts differ on different browsers and on different Operating system. So, let’s check it out each of them one by one.

  • In Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl and the plus key (+) to make text larger, or Ctrl and the minus key (-) to make it smaller.

  • Just like Windows, In any browser window on ChromeOS, press Ctrl and the plus key (+) to make text larger, or Ctrl and the minus key (-) to make it smaller.
  1. On Mac

  • In Chrome, press the option + command + plus key (+) to make text larger, or the option + command + minus key (-) to make text smaller.
  • In Firefox and Safari, press the command and the plus key (+) to make text larger, and the command + minus key (-) to make text smaller.
