How to Discover the Hidden Feature Recently Unveiled in Your Sky TV Box

Say goodbye to the endless quest for your lost Sky remote, thanks to the latest upgrade from the company. Users across the UK are now receiving a major update that turns their smartphones into virtual remotes. No more rummaging through cushions for that elusive plastic accessory. Simply reach for your iPhone (Android users will have to wait a bit longer), and you’ll have complete control over what’s on your screen.

These changes are part of an update to the Sky Go app, allowing users to access the virtual remote in the Settings menu. Ensure you have the latest version of Sky Go installed, connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Sky box, then tap on the cog icon in the top left-hand corner of the display. Scroll down to Sky Q Remote, and the virtual controller will appear on the screen like magic.

With your phone, you can now change channels, record shows, access the red button, adjust the volume, pause live TV, navigate through recordings, and even turn off the box. The possibilities are endless.

According to a post on Sky’s forum pages, they said, “We have a new update to Sky Go, which includes a virtual Sky Q remote! This new version also introduces a dark mode for accessibility customers and a customizable home page. The rollout of this update will be phased, with the aim of completion by July 17th.”

Sky has also stated that they plan to make the virtual remote easier to find in the future, possibly relocating it to the header area of the app instead of burying it in the Settings menu.

It’s important to note that this feature is currently only available to customers using an Apple device with iOS version 13 or above.

Of course, if you’re an Android user or don’t have a newer iPhone, there is another way to locate your remote. Simply press the Q logo on the front of your set-top box, and it will trigger the alarm hidden within the remote.

This should help you locate the remote if it has slipped between the sofa cushions or fallen behind the furniture.
