Honor Magic 2 Launched with Triple Rear & Front Cameras: Price, Specifications and more


Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor has launched its second-generation Honor Magic smartphone, dubbed as Honor Magic 2 at an event held in Beijing on Wednesday. The main highlight of the Honor Magic 2 is its sliding design with a slider mechanism where not dual but triple-front facing cameras pop-out along with the bunch of sensors. Other highlights of the smartphone include the company’s latest 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, an in-display fingerprint sensor, 3D face unlock, and 40W Magic Charge fast charging technology.

Honor Magic 2 Price and Availability

The Honor Magic 2 Comes with the price tag of Yuan 3799 ($ 544/ Rs. 40,295 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant, Yuan 4299 ($ 616/ Rs. 45,610 approx.) for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage option and the top-end 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant is priced at Yuan 4799 ($ 688/ Rs. 50,910 approx.). It will be available for pre-orders starting from 12 am on November 1, and goes on sale from November 6 via the company’s online store. It will be made available in Silver, Blue, and Pink colour options.

Honor Magic 2 Specifications

The Honor Magic 2 runs on Magic UI 2.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie operating system. It sports a 6.39”full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) 19.5:9 AMOLED display with a pixel density of 403ppi, 108% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone is powered by the up to 2.6GHz Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor coupled with Dual NPU and Mali-G76MP10 GPU. It offers 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB of internal storage and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

For photography, the Honor Magic 2 comes equipped with a triple rear camera setup with a combination of a 16MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, 24MP monochrome sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, and 16MP sensor with a super wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture along with AIS, AI intelligent stabilization and LED flash support. On the front, there is another triple camera setup with a combination of a 16MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, and two 2MP sensors with f/2.4 aperture for 3D Face Unlock as well as 3D Qmoji.

The Honor Magic is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery with 40W Magic Charge fast charging technology that is rated that can charge the phone from 0 to 50% in 15 minutes and 0 to 85% in just 30 minutes. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor with a large 32.48mm coverage area. The phone also comes with IPX2 rating for dust and splash-proof. It measures 157.32×75.13×8.3mm and weighs about 206 grams.
