According to distributor Plaion’s website, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl might be releasing on December 1, 2023.
The official German Plaion store, as discovered by Wccftech, has listed STALKER 2: Chornobyl for PC with a release date of December 1. The description on the website highlights the game as a unique combination of first-person shooter, horror, and immersive sim. It also mentions the inclusion of survival mechanics for hunger, sleep, and bleeding, along with a dynamic day and night cycle and realistic weather effects.
While this date could potentially be a temporary placeholder, it is worth noting that December 1 falls on a Friday, which is a common day for game releases. Additionally, other games without confirmed release dates on the store are given a December 31 date. This particular store has a history of leaking dates in a similar manner, as seen with the Switch version of Darksiders 2.
Developer and publisher GSC World has not officially confirmed the release date, but it has announced that STALKER 2 will be playable at Gamescom 2023. This suggests that the game may be nearing completion.
Originally slated for an April 2022 release, STALKER 2 was subsequently delayed to December 2022. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, GSC halted development in March and later resumed in May.
During Xbox and Bethesda’s 2022 showcase, the game appeared to be delayed to the first half of 2023, and GSC confirmed that it would not be featured in the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. However, the studio promised to share more information in the coming months.
