During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harrison Ford discussed the fate of his character in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. He revealed, “When the script was released, it did not depict Indiana Jones’s death, so we did not need to address it. However, during filming, the topic came up a few times, and James Mangold expressed his reluctance to be the one to kill off the character. I believe it was a wise decision to leave him in the state we see him in at the end of the film. Most of his issues have been resolved and dealt with. He has returned to the form that audiences adore, and I find the final scene to be wonderful… I genuinely appreciate it.”

Ford also expressed his desire to step away from the role of Indiana Jones and retire the character for good, stating, “This is the last film in the series, and it will be my final portrayal of the character. I anticipate that this will be the last time Indiana Jones appears in a film. I had been eager to make this film for ten years, and the moment finally arrived when we all committed to it. It was a moment of great joy for me. I consider myself fortunate to have contributed to the development of amazing films created by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas over the span of 40 years. Ending with a bang, rather than a whimper, has been my ultimate goal for this adventure.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is currently playing in theaters.
