Guide to Nightmare Dungeons and Nightmare Sigils in Diablo 4

The Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons are an endgame activity that can be accessed by obtaining special consumable items. These items can turn previously visited areas into more challenging delves with better rewards. In this guide, we will help you learn about Nightmare Sigils and Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 and how to get them.

Nightmare Sigils and Nightmare Dungeons become available after clearing the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon. You should switch to World Tier 3: Nightmare to get the chance of obtaining Nightmare Sigils. Loot drops containing Nightmare Sigils can occur while doing Whispers of the Dead bounties, Helltide Events, freeroam exploration, and even while in actual Nightmare Dungeons.

To activate a Diablo 4 Nightmare Sigil, head to the dungeon that matches the name (i.e. Blind Burrows Nightmare Sigil), open your inventory, and switch to the consumables tab. Once you activate the sigil, the regular dungeon will transform into its Nightmare counterpart.

A Nightmare Dungeon’s layout and objectives are procedurally generated and fixed, respectively. However, there are additional modifiers based on the Nightmare Sigil used. The enemies in these dungeons will be level 53+. These Tier 1 Nightmare Dungeons allow only up to 12 revives. You can expect at least one helpful affix/modifier and at least two detrimental ones, making the task challenging. The Nightmare Dungeons are a great source of high-tier loot, such as Sacred and Unique items.

After completing a Nightmare Dungeon, select a specific Paragon Glyph to level up. This provides additional benefits to your stats and other related facets of your build.
