Gran Turismo 7 Rumored to Launch on PS5 in the First Half of 2021

According to an ad from PlayStation, the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 could be arriving sometime within the first half of next year.

Initially revealed during Sony’s PS5 reveal showcase this past June, Gran Turismo 7 will bring the long-running racing series to the next-generation sometime in the future on PS5. Powered by the next-gen hardware of Sony’s upcoming system, it hasn’t been clear when the next installment of the iconic racing series will be arriving, but a recent ad suggests that the game could be releasing for the system as soon as next year.

As noted by GTPlanet, a recent YouTube ad from Sony for the PS5’s launch highlighted the upcoming Gran Turismo 7, and seemingly may have uncovered the game’s release window. In the corner of the ad’s thumbnail, a line of text appears to state in French, “Sortie prévue pour la première moitié de 2021,” which translates that the game is scheduled for release in the first half of 2021.

Naturally, this should be taken with a grain of salt as neither Sony or developer Polyphony Digital have announced an official release window or date yet for Gran Turismo 7. While this is coming from an official Sony source–in this case a YouTube ad–we recently saw some mistakes that cropped up on Sony’s marketing earlier this year, such as an ad for Demon’s Souls that incorrectly stated that the game would also be coming to PC.

However, it isn’t too hard to imagine that Gran Turismo 7 could be lined up for sometime next year to fill up the PS5’s post-launch calendar. Sony already has a number of titles lined up to release for the system next year including the next God of WarHorizon Forbidden West, and (presumably) Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Until then, we’ll have to wait and see whether the next installment in the racing series will join the roster for a packed 2021 for Sony first-party games.

Gran Turismo 7 is currently in development for PS5, though no specific release date or window for the game has been officially announced yet.
