iOS and Android are giving hand to hand competition by introducing new features and functions for their smartphones users. Most iOS users prefer to go with an iOS device for the future just because of its services like AirDrop. Android too has a number of file sharing apps which are from third-party.

Now, Android is planning to launch a new way of sharing files between the devices just like iOS’ Air-Drop. Yes, you heard that right. Android is launching a new service called Fast Share. This service works exactly the same as Apple’s Airdrop for file sharing between two devices.

Google has its own file sharing platform called Android Beam which uses NFC Connections to share files between the devices. And now, Android is preparing for an even faster way of sharing files and information between two devices. Android Beam will not be available on Android Q as the giant will make a new Fast Share app available for the users.

Google had introduced Android Beam in the year 2011 with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System. After 8 years, the giant will soon discontinue its services and bringing the new Fast Share app for the users.

As reported by 9to5Android, the giant is preparing for the replacement of Android Beam service and that would be with the new Fast Share platform. This new Fast Share app will be on a new Android Q Operating powered Google’s devices such as Pixel 3 XL which is running on Android Q’s Beta update.

If we talk about its features, Fast Share will let users share different types of files such as photos, URLs, text and all the other files between Android devices. This option will be right there in your system’s Settings Menu. You just need to go to the Apps menu and launch the Settings app. Scroll down to see this app.

This new Fast Share app will work by enabling it on your respective Android smartphones. Once you see your recipient’s device’s name on your screen, just select it and start sharing of your files instantly.

We will get to know more about this new fast sharing platform by Google in the coming days. Stay tuned with us!
