A few days before in this week, Google started rolling out a redesigned version of Podcasts app on Android. And now, the company is reportedly rolling out its Podcast app for the first time on iOS. The tech giant launched this app on iOS to take on existing Podcasts providers such as Apple, Overcast, or Spotify.

The new version of Google Podcast which rolled out on Android comes with a lot of new features and options with a redesigned three-tab layout. The main Home screen is now focused on shows you already subscribe to with tons of new episodes with quick links to download, play, or queue up directly from the homepage.

In addition to that, the Discovery and Recommendation tabs have been kicked out and has been replaced by a new “Eplore” tab. A new tab called “Activity” has been added in the latest release lets you view and manage your current playback queue, listening history, downloads, and subscriptions.

Apart from this, one of the much-awaited feature – automatic downloading has been added in the latest version of Podcast which will automatically download new episodes of shows when they’re released. The latest version of Podcasts also comes with the support for notifications for new episode availability which is one of the critical features that other apps have offered for years.

One of the best part of this update is, these new features and design will also be rolling out to the web version of Podcasts with support for subscriptions, allowing users to sync listening progress across devices. This move will allow Google to compete with companies like Apple and Spotify, which offer similar syncing features within their own native apps.

As for the availability, Google Podcasts is now available to download on iOS. The new version is also reflected to the Google Podcasts for web.
