Google Pixel ads depict Pixels and iPhones as best friends

In summary, Google Pixel has released a new series of ads that cleverly depict the Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max as close friends. The ads highlight the Pixel’s superiority over the iPhone, while remaining encouraging to its counterpart. Interestingly, both phones are personified by their respective voice assistants.

Buddy comedies have been a popular theme in both television and film. Think Rush Hour with the talkative Chris Tucker and the reserved Jackie Chan, or Die Hard: With a Vengeance with the gritty Bruce Willis and sassy Samuel L. Jackson. And now, we witness a new buddy comedy: iPhone and Pixel.

Google Pixel has released a series of five ads featuring an iPhone 14 Pro Max and a Google Pixel 7 Pro as best friends. However, the iPhone seems to be going through an existential crisis in these ads, feeling inadequate as the Pixel 7 Pro consistently outshines it with its superior features.

One of the ads, called “Plateau,” showcases the phones discussing their capabilities. The iPhone expresses its insecurities due to its inferior camera, less advanced AI, and constant reminders of the Pixel 7 Pro’s exceptional photo quality. In an attempt to console the iPhone, the Pixel emphasizes its “blue bubbles,” which infuriates the iPhone, leading to a sarcastic outburst about the significance of bubbles.

To add an extra touch of comedy, the voices representing each phone in the ads are their respective digital assistants – Siri for the iPhone and Google Assistant for the Pixel. The robotic voices contribute to the silliness of the dialogues, lacking the natural inflections of human speech.

The ads can be found in this playlist and there are a total of five of them.
