Google Pixel 6: Google Pixel 6 may have one of the fastest chipsets on Android, claims report

Google may ship one of the fastest Android chipsets in the form of Tensor with its Pixel 6 smartphone, as per a report by XDA Developers. The report is based upon the leaked information about a Pixel 6 Pro unit coming from a source the website trusts.
The findings of the source reportedly corroborate with those of a Geekbench listing of the Pixel 6 Pro smartphone, as per which the Google Tensor chip will have a “2+2+4” configuration, with two Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A78 cores in the middle slot, and four Cortex-A55 cores. When we compare this with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and Samsung Exynos 2100 chipsets, there is one less A78 core and its place has been taken by a second X1 core.
While the Cortex-A78 and the Cortex-X1 are similar in design, the X1 packs a better punch when it comes to performance, by delivering 23% more power than the A78, as per a report by 9to5Google. It gives reason to expect that the Tensor chipset could be faster than Snapdragon 888, the reigning Android chipset. However, this is just a matter of speculation for now. Google will ship the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones with the Tensor chip.
Google could also be working on developing its own chipset for its upcoming laptops and tablets running Chrome OS, as per an earlier report by Nikkei Asia, based on inputs from three sources. “The new CPUs and the mobile processors that Google is developing are based on the chip blueprints of Arm, the Softbank-controlled UK chip company whose intellectual property is used in more than 90% of the world’s mobile devices,” said the report.
