Google Pixel 3a Adds Dual SIM Dual Standby Support

Android’s latest edition, Android Q which is also known as Android 10, brings dual SIM dual standby support for the newly launched Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL devices. This option was not made available by Google in the previous Android version.

Users of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones have found the support for DSDS with the latest Android Q update. This enables you to use dual SIM cards at the same time. You can use the eSIM and a physical SIM card at the same time.

In the previous device i.e. Google Pixel 3, you have to switch between the Physical SIM and eSIM as it doesn’t support the DSDS. You can’t keep both of your SIM cards active on a Google Pixel 3 smartphone.

If you are wondering about this feature and haven’t heard of it yet, then this post will give you brief information about it.

When you use dual SIM cards and keep them active, you can receive voice calls and do all the things through both the SIM cards simultaneously. This feature is a handy one for those who travel to different places.

Once you upgrade your Google Pixel 3a smartphone, you will have to setup the physical SIM card and an eSIM card first. You can change the data and other useful things from the Settings option.

With the support of DSDS, you will be able to receive texts and voice calls from two different numbers. You will be asked to select the SIM before sending out a text message. You can maintain the data of two different SIMs easily.

To enable the DSDS support, you need to first insert your physical SIM card to the device and then head over to the settings option to add a new eSIM there. This can be done through the Networks option from the Settings app. You will be asked whether to use Two numbers, you just need to select the Continue button to move ahead.

You will get all the instructions from that page with alerts before you can enable the support.
