Google One vs Apple One: How the two compare


NEW DELHI: Google Photos is ending its free unlimited storage. In a blog post the company announced that starting June 1, 2021, all new photos and videos backed up in ‘High quality; will count toward the free 15GB of storage that comes with your Google Account or any additional storage you may have purchased, the same way other Google services like Google Drive and Gmail already do.
The company said that it realises that this is a big change and so it is giving users almost six months to plan how they want to utilise the 15GB they have. “We don’t take this decision lightly and we acknowledge that this is a big shift, so wanted to let you know well in advance and give you resources to help you navigate this change,” says the post.

So in case you wondering, what you will do with your photos, there are several cloud-based storage services including Google’s own Google One. “On June 1, 2021, we will be launching a new storage management tool which will help you easily find and delete dark, blurry, and otherwise unwanted content. You can also purchase more storage with Google One where available,” the blog posts too suggests. Google One offers expanded storage, access to experts and more. Plans start at Rs 130 per month.

Apple device users also have the option to buy the company’s iCloud storage or Apple One plans. Apple One is a collection of Apple services for one low monthly price. Users have the option to choose from Apple services, which includes Music, TV, Arcade other than iCloud. And with the Family plan, you can invite up to five other people to join.
