Google Map’s New For You Tab For Personalised Suggestions Comes to iOS


iPhones and iPads will soon be getting an additionally customised variant of Google Maps. In the Google’s I/O Developer Conference conducted a few months ago, Google launched a line-up of brand new features that are created to assist the users of Google Maps to find out what is going on in their local area, track operational businesses in the area, for receiving updates regarding events and promotions, and receiving customize recommendations of venues to visit, eat at, and a lot more! Some of these options can now be accessed in the “For You” tab available in the overhauled Google Maps application, that was launched on Android in June 2018.

Now this upgrade will be released loaded with additional features. As per the company, the “For You” tab is now available to over 130 more nations on Android and its iOS version shall be made available for over 40 nations as a start. When you navigate to the “For You” tab, you will receive a number of recommendations and suggestions ranging from “Recently Opened Places to Go to” to “Restaurants to Dine At.” These recommendations and suggestions are based on the user’s personal likes and dislikes that are extracted from their usage of the Google Maps application. For example, it could be information related to the kind of businesses they have looked up and followed.

With the help of the upgraded tab, users can also plan their vacations by suggesting sites to visit and places to checkout prior to departure. In order to get better suggestions, users should follow the businesses they like and also the place they frequently visit for personalizing the suggestions even more.

This upgrade is a component of a greater upgrade of Google Maps that is endeavouring to compete with Facebook, when it comes to offering tailor-made suggestions along with targetting possible new clients through advertisement so to get featured in user’s recommendation.

A couple of months ago, Google Maps rolled out the “Follow” option to keep a tab on businesses. Following this move, in November, the tech giant launched the ‘Google My Business’ application for business persons to aid them in creating and posting content to their company’s Google profile.
