Your commute would be a lot less frustrating if you have the information you need to avoid delays, miss connections, and know the best route for you. Google is addressing that with a series of new features and integrations in Google Maps.
Google Maps is taking a helpful step to give you this information at the time when you can best use it, on your commute. Google Maps is offering a new feature that provides real-time information to help you manage your commute to be fast and efficient. It can give you an estimated time for your typical route. If there are delays for some reason, alternative routes with estimated travel times are suggested within your hands.
If you’re using an Android smartphone, Google Maps will provide updates while you are in a transit so that you can adjust your route before getting delayed. If you are a typical person who prefers walking, driving and going on a mass transit, Google Maps’ new feature will calculate the total transit time for you.
The location of your train or bus will be shown on the map if you are live in one of the supported 80 cities. Google Maps is now working with their transit systems. Here is the list of some of the cities:
- Los Angeles
- New York
- San Francisco
- Orange County
- Boise, Sanford, Florida
- San Antonio
- Fresno, California
- Lansing, Michigan
- Seattle in the U.S. and Toronto
- São Paulo
- The Hague
- Rio De Janeiro
- St Petersburg
A more advanced feature is available in Sydney wherein the map will show how the crowded the bus or train on Transport New South Wales in real time. It is a helpful feature so that you will know whether you’ll be taking a seat inside or just prepare for a crowded ride. The crowd feature is currently available only in Sydney, but it is expected to come to more cities soon.
Aside from the helpful features mentioned above, Google Maps app now integrates with music players like Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play Music. Browsing through playlists, albums, songs and podcasts is now enabled for Spotify users on Android.
