Google Maps Gets a New Business Messaging Feature for Android and iOS

After a pile of updates that Google Maps had, it is getting a brand new feature again. The new business messaging feature has been added to the Android and iOS version of the app. Google Maps’ Business messaging is a direct and easy way to contact a store or restaurant to ask your inquiry or place an order.

Business messaging is a new feature added to the list of recently added features such as the “Follow” button on listings to get store updates and a feature that lets users in selected countries to directly communicate with businesses via SMS. Now that the business messaging feature has been added, the company is expecting the people and businesses to dive into this new feature.

This was spotted on Google’s blog post saying “Now you’ll see your messages with the businesses you connect with via Business Profiles within the Google Maps app, where you’re already looking for things to do and places to go or shop.  You’ll find these messages in the side menu of both Google Maps for Android and iOS.”

Once available in your country, you can tap the “message” option when you click on a Business Profile. Tapping the message option will direct you into the Messages tab where you can start communicating with businesses. Their response can be seen on the same messaging interface. This feature is not yet available worldwide but Google plans to expand its reach to more countries over the coming weeks.

Business owners can enable this feature by downloading the Google My Business application from the Google Play store or App Store for iOS users. Once installed, it will allow business owners to enable real-time communication with their customers, which could help them boost their engagement levels and sales.
