Google Maps Augmented Reality Now Rolling Out to Pixel Devices


Google’s Annual Developer’s Conference, Google I/O 2019 is running successfully and the giant has already announced a few innovations to its services. The newly announced Google Maps AI update has been rolled out to Pixel devices in the global market. Yes, the Google Maps AI started rolling out officially.

According to this latest update, Google Maps users will now able to use their phone’s native camera while navigating. This update lets you see the real world around you and with the help of the Augmented Reality, an arrow will be there throughout the journey. The arrow will navigate and shows you the real world around using the phone’s camera app.

To make use of the AI feature, you need to select “Walking” option from the available options of navigations. At this moment, the update is rolling out for Pixel phone users only. There’s no information about the same update for other smartphones as of now. Many big countries will not be able to get this update. It will be made available to the countries which support Google’s Street View feature.

Google has officially announced the availability of this innovative Augmented Reality feature for Pixel devices. The company took to Twitter and shared information from its official Twitter handle. We have embedded the tweet here, check for yourself.

When responding to replies, the company has stated that the Google Maps AR feature is available for Pixel users globally. This means, Pixel smartphone users irrespective of any countries, will be able to use this feature on the Google Maps app. If you have an iPhone, then there’s no information about this update’s availability for the iPhone users as of now.

In order to use this feature, the first thing you need to do is just launch this app on a respective Pixel smartphone and select the place you want to go through Google Maps. Then select “Walking” option from the available options. You will also see a Camera option when you select “Walking” option. The Camera of your device will turn on, and you will see the live information about the buildings, hotels etc.
