google: Google is testing an animation-filled redesign for its web Search UI

0

Google is certainly the most popular search engine available on the internet right now and the US based tech giant has always worked on ways to improve it. There have been multiple UI tests in Google Search over the past few years, including the recent introduction of dark mode and now it is adding some new animations to its UI.
9to5google reports that this minor tweak to Google Search on desktop brings a more modernised UI. The search bar has also parted ways with its rounded appearance in exchange for a smoother field split from the search results with a horizontal line. The shortcuts for voice search and to clear the search field are still present like it is with the current UI.
Animations used in Google Search
The report added that one of the animations included the Google logo changing from its fully typed out form to a multi-colored G icon as the search bar was clicked and the recent queries expanded below it. The extended drop-down also implemented more search queries that were indirectly related under a “people also ask section,” along with some suggestions powered by Knowledge Graph.
The report also adds that the new UI only appeared in Google Search while the test browsing was done in incognito mode. There were other reports of this UI appearing as early as December 10, although it was appearing only for the users who were signed in.
This new design is under testing and there is no confirmation about when and if this will be released widely. Recently, Google also added a new design to its Search for the “Top Stories” feature.
