Google Drive for iOS Gets Touch ID and Face ID Support

Google has rolled out new security and privacy feature to its popular storage app Google Drive for iOS. Google Drive for iOS gets a new security feature of Touch ID and Face ID authentication. The new feature released by Google dubbed Privacy Screen.

The aim behind launching this new privacy feature is to add an extra layer of security for the users. When you launch Google Drive on a compatible iPhone or iPad devices, you will be asked to log in through Touch ID instead of directly opening it on the devices.

If you are using an updated iPhone or iPad, then the updated Google Drive is there on the App Store to get this Touch ID and Face ID authentication. The app lets you add delay time of 10 delays, 1 minute and 10 minutes.

If we talk more about the app, the new Touch ID and Face ID support come with Google Drive’s version number 4.2020.18204. Apart from the support for Touch ID and Face ID, the newly updated app has fixed a lot of bug issues. The overall user-interface has been improved with more stability.

Privacy Screen is still in its initial stage for iOS devices. There might be some issues with the notification that Google has already mentioned in the release note.

Once enabled, you will be asked to use Touch ID whenever you switch between the apps. Unlike the previous edition, you can easily open up Google Drive and other apps without any security, but from now onwards, you will have to put your fingers on the Touch ID or use Face ID to access the data stored in the Google Drive.

The best part about this Privacy Screen is the delay timer. You can set the delay timer up to 10 minutes. Between 10 minutes, you can switch multiple apps where you would not be asked to use the Touch ID and Face ID. Once the delay timer is over, you will be asked to log in using the Touch ID and Face ID.

Google had first announced this feature last month, but from now, the app is now available for public users.
