Google Assistant Can Now Read Out Texts from WhatsApp and Other Third-Party Apps

Voice Assistances are getting better day by day as the giants are constantly working on their improvements. We have seen so many changes in Google’s Virtual Voice Assistant, Google Assistant over the past few years. Today, Google Assistant is adding a new feature that would read out texts from third-party apps.

Yes, you heard that right. Google Assistant is adding a new text reading support. This was the much-awaited and highly expected feature which is now rolling out by Google to its Google Assistant. What’s interesting here is the Google Assistant will be able to read out texts from third-party apps as well, and not just Google’s own apps.

This means the Google Assistant can read texts from popular messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Slack and many other more. Apart from reading out the texts, there is a feature called speech-to-text. This feature would let you send text messages using your voice command. You don’t have to type in words manually, just select this speech-to-text button and the assistant will write things for you. The text message spoken by you will be sent.

Millions of Smartphone users are using Android-powered phones and they do make use of regular messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram and much more. All these apps will now support Google Assistant and its new feature.

To make Google Assistant read your text message, first, you have to enable this feature from the Settings option. The same assistant will read aloud the messages and will also let you know the app which has received that particular message or notification.

Once you heard the message, you can directly respond to that message using your voice command or direct command.

This support is specifically designed for text messages only. Google Assistant will not be able to speak the voice messages received by you from the recipients.

This new feature is yet to announce officially by Google and it is not released for any regions yet. The rolling out process has just begun and only a few users have access of this feature as of now.
