Google announces a kids-friendly mode for Android tablets

Internet search giant Google has launched a new mode — called the Kids Space — on select Android tablets. This mode will allow users to operate the tablet on a mode that features apps, books and videos, which are suitable for kids.
This Kids Space mode will be available on some Lenovo tablets — including Lenovo Smart Tab M10 HD Gen 2 — first. However, it is said to come to more tablets too that too worldwide, said the company.
As per Google, Kids Space will let the children create their custom avatars by selecting its clothes, shoes, accessories and more. Following this, it will allow kids to choose their interests — such as animals, arts and crafts, science and nature, stories and writing, cooking, music, etc — and then provide related content to that, including daily content recommendations, fun facts and jokes.
This Kids Space is said to come with a library of apps and books in the Play and Read tabs that the company claims has been developed with the help of academic experts and children’s education specialists.
“We worked with top publishers to make popular children’s books free of charge, and have over 400 free books available in the US alone,” said Google. The mode will come with a direct link to YouTube Kids from where kids can look at videos.
