Google has added new features to its Assistant Snapshot along with voice command support. This means you no longer need to activate Google Assistant and tap on the icon in the bottom left corner to use Snapshot. Now, you can simply say: “Hey Google, show me my day.” This feature is live for those using English as their default language. Google will roll out this feature to additional languages in the coming months.
Google describes Snapshot as “the best place to see everything you’ve got going on in one place”. While using Snapshot Google Assistant will send a notification about important tasks and also about information like flight and event updates, upcoming bills and due date reminders.
“In English-speaking markets, we’ll be adding upcoming birthdays. When you tap on the notification, you’ll be taken to the related Snapshot card to take action with suggestions like calling, texting or even singing a personalized birthday song,” said Google in its official blog.
Along with important information, Google will offer a summary of important tasks. “Your Snapshot will adjust based on the time of day and your interactions with Google Assistant. For example, in the morning you will see a card about your commute, weather, to-dos and top headlines,” it explained.
Meanwhile, Google has recently rolled out a new feature to its Assistant, which allows users to record and send audio messages.
This feature doesn’t require Android phone users to hold the mic icon. In order to start recording the audio message, users need to “Hey Google, send an audio message” or “Hey Google, send an audio message to [contact name] saying ….” Users can also use the Google Assistant to send such audio messages on third-party apps including WhatsApp with commands like “Send a WhatsApp audio message to [contact name].”
