Giphy made an announcement regarding an upgrade for the iOS application, which shall bring the GIF-sharing keyboard extension for all applications that come with multimedia support. These apps include but are not limited to Messenger, Instagram, Discord, Mail, WhatsApp, SnapChat, and a lot more. This upgrade also adds a functionality named Sticker Maker which shall be available exclusively to iPhone X and more recent iPhone version owners as these phones come with TrueDepth feature in the camera.
With the help of Sticker Maker, iPhone X users can transform selfies into a personalized animated GIF sticker. These GIF stickers can be shared via messages and on IM apps. To navigate to the option, go to the Giphy application and tap on the Plus icon tab. After that, select Sticker and then just snap a picture of yourself. The picture needs to be added to the Giphy account so it can be used over the platform’s connected applications and keyboard extension.
The GIF options offered by Giphy are supported on many applications. For example, one can look up GIF stickers on Instagram. Giphy’s keyboard extensions runs on iMessage, just like applications such as GIF keyboard. Even though the App Store of Apple rolled out a number of app-based options, several keyboard extensions similar to Giphy’s continue to be prevalent since a long time.
iPhone X and more recent version owners can record themselves and create animated Giphy stickers for sending it to their friends. This feature is available for iOS 12 only as it uses the TrueDepth camera technology. Users can also make these GIFs and stickers as favourites. These stickers can also be edited and customised by inserting captions, trimming and creating video loops. Stay tuned with TechnoCodex for more updates.
