Genshin Impact fans can enjoy an underwater adventure in Fontaine starting August 16

Genshin Impact Version 4.0 is set to be launched on August 16, as announced today. The upcoming update, called “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason,” introduces players to the new nation of Fontaine, which is the fifth nation in the Teyvat realm. Fontaine is renowned as the Nation of Justice and is a vibrant center for culture, art, and technology.

The Version 4.0 update brings a host of exciting additions, including new adventures, gameplay modes, stories, and three new playable characters. Notably, players will have the opportunity to explore the underwater realms for the first time in the game. In addition to the city on the surface, Fontaine offers a captivating underwater adventure.

Located northeast of the Sumeru desert, Fontaine is ruled by Focalors, the God of Justice. The city is known for its grand public events at the Opera Epiclese, where trials are held and various performances, including magic shows, take place. In the new Archon Quest chapter, players will witness an enchanting magic show by Lyney and Lynette, as well as participate in an ongoing trial.

One of the unique features of Fontaine is its abundance of water, allowing players to engage in underwater adventures. Thanks to a special blessing, characters will have Aquatic Stamina instead of worrying about oxygen when underwater. Players can collect Recovery Orbs to restore stamina or swim through Turbulent Bubbles for faster movement. Underwater combat will introduce diverse techniques, and players will have the ability to absorb the powers of aquatic creatures to defend themselves and uncover hidden treasures.

The update also introduces new boss challenges. The Icewind Suite, based on Fontaine’s clockwork technology, presents a dancing duo that can launch Cryo attacks. Another formidable boss, known as the Emperor of Fire and Iron, resides in an underwater cave. This boss possesses the defense abilities of an iron crab and can unleash devastating Pyro attacks.

Version 4.0 introduces the first three playable characters from Fontaine. Lyney, a five-star archer and magician, can transform into a Grin-Malkin Cat. Lynette, Lyney’s younger sister, is a four-star Anemo character who wields a sword. Players above Adventure Rank 25 can invite Lynette to their team for free through the latest seasonal event. The third character, Freminet, is a four-star Claymore user who specializes in Cryo and Physical attacks.

The Version 4.0 Event Wishes will feature Lyney, Lynette, and Yelan in the early half, followed by Zhongli and Tartaglia’s reruns, and the debut of Freminet in the latter half. Alongside these exciting updates, players can expect new functionalities and enhancements, such as Global Illumination, motion sensor support, and faster loading times on PlayStation consoles. The update also includes optimizations such as a multi-layered map and new Party Setup backgrounds and animations.

To commemorate the release of Version 4.0 on August 16, additional events will be unveiled soon.
