Gal Gadot, the star of Wonder Woman, is set to take on a new role as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In a recent interview with Vogue Hong Kong, Gadot discussed her experience playing a villain in the film.
In the interview, Gadot expressed her excitement in portraying the iconic Disney villain. She described the role as “delicious” and mentioned how it was a unique experience because it was a fairy tale and the first Disney villain ever. Gadot also talked about how being part of a musical allowed her to showcase a more dramatic and animated performance, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
The animated version of Snow White was released in 1937 and marked Disney’s first-ever animated feature film. Lucille La Verne provided the voice for the Evil Queen in the original film.
The live-action remake will also feature Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Martin Klebba as Grumpy. The film is directed by Marc Webb, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man films. Andrew Burnap will also be part of the cast, playing an original character.
Disney has been on a roll with live-action remakes of their animated classics. Snow White adds to the ever-growing list that includes recent releases such as The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio. There are also plans for a live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, featuring the return of original voice talent Chris Sanders. The remake of Snow White is scheduled to hit theaters on March 22, 2024.
