Free Content to Watch: A Budget-Friendly Rival Emerges to Challenge Amazon’s Fire TV

In March, Amazon introduced its own line of affordable televisions, offering internet connectivity, with prices starting at a reasonable £249.99. Our comprehensive review of the Fire TV 4-Series highlights the impressive features and benefits of these TVs. However, now there is new competition in the form of Roku, a rival company that already produces various streaming devices.

Roku has partnered with tech giant Sharp to release a range of Smart TVs, set to arrive in the UK next month. The Sharp Roku TV series offers a diverse selection of sizes, ranging from a budget-friendly 24-inch model to a more premium 55-inch version. Consumers also have the option to choose between standard 2K displays and more impressive 4K options, which boast state-of-the-art technologies like HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG High Dynamic Range.

One of the notable advantages of these Sharp Roku TVs is their instant access to a wide range of content from popular platforms such as Disney+, Apple TV+, and Netflix. Additionally, Roku offers free access to its Roku Channel, which includes an array of content, including exclusive Roku Originals featuring Hollywood A-listers like Daniel Radcliffe in “WEIRD AL: The Al Yankovic Story” and Kevin Hart in “Die Hart!”

These TVs also come with enticing additional features, including full voice search capabilities through Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as Airplay 2 for seamless content sharing from Apple devices.

Arthur van Rest, the VP International at Roku, expressed his excitement about bringing the popular Roku TV experience to consumers through the Sharp Roku TV models. Sascha Lange, Vice President Marketing & Sales at Sharp, also shared the enthusiasm for expanding collaboration with Roku and introducing the line-up of Sharp Roku TVs to the United Kingdom.

Beginning in August, Sharp Roku TVs will be available from various retailers, including Currys, Asda, Amazon, and Very.co.uk, with sizes ranging from 24″ to 65″ and prices ranging from £150 to £450.
