FOX Announces Premiere Date for Dan Harmon’s ‘Krapopolis’

Finally, after much anticipation, Dan Harmon’s highly awaited new series, Krapopolis, has announced its official release date. The animated show, co-created by Harmon of Rick & Morty fame, will debut on Sunday, September 24, following the NFL doubleheader scheduled for that evening. It will kick off with two premiere episodes before joining FOX’s regular Animation Domination line-up on October 1.

Set in Ancient Greece, Krapopolis revolves around a dysfunctional family comprised of gods, humans, and monsters as they navigate the challenges of managing one of the world’s first cities. Working with family is never easy, especially when trying to establish a new domain, so they must tread carefully to avoid killing each other in the process. Throughout their journey, the human king, Tyrannis (played by Richard Ayoade), will encounter various figures from Greek mythology, adding to the eccentricity of their adventures.

Krapopolis was officially ordered as a series in 2022 and was originally slated for release in the same year. FOX even provided a sneak peek at San Diego Comic-Con. However, the release date was postponed multiple times, ultimately settling on the new September date. Despite the delays, FOX demonstrated its confidence in the show and Harmon by granting a double renewal in March 2023. Harmon serves as the creator and executive producer of the series, alongside Steve Levy and Season 1 showrunner Jordan Young. Alex Rubens will take over as showrunner for Seasons 2 and 3. The talented voice cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy, and Duncan Trussell.

In addition to Krapopolis, FOX has also set an October 1 release date for its three core Animation Domination series: The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy. The full AniDom return commences with The Simpsons Season 35 at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Krapopolis. Bob’s Burgers Season 14 airs at 9 p.m. ET, concluding with Family Guy Season 22 at 9:30 p.m. ET. These three established shows also received double renewals earlier in the year. The Simpsons is confirmed through Season 36, while Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy are set for Seasons 15 and 23, respectively. As of now, FOX has yet to announce a premiere date for The Great North Season 4.

Mark your calendars for the premiere of Krapopolis on Sunday, September 24, on FOX. New episodes will air weekly on Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET. Check out a sneak peek clip from the series below:
