A new leak points to a possible Spider-Man skin joining the Fortnite roster; if true, it will supposedly introduce swinging mechanics. Many Marvel characters have previously featured in Fortnite, with A-listers such as Black Panther, Daredevil, Deadpool, and Iron Man dropping onto the Island. The title’s Marvel line-up doesn’t exclusively include those of the heroic variety, however.
Several villains have made their mark on the battle royale, as well. Famously, Galactus served as the primary antagonist of Chapter 2 Season 4 in late 2020, with the cosmic being playing a major role in The Devourer of the World Live Event. Doctor Doom, similarly, debuted during Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 4, though he didn’t enter the mix for malicious purposes. Instead, Doom’s summoning to the Island originally came about in hopes that he would help defeat Galactus. Of course, the not-so-good Doctor made quick work of derailing such a plan. And despite Fornite’s recent introductions of Carnage and Venom, one Marvel character, in particular, has yet to so much as step foot on the battlefield – Spider-Man.
Reliable Fortnite leaker and content creator HYPEX (via Comicbook.com) may have stumbled across something that points to Spidey’s eventual arrival, however. According to the leaker, Epic Games is currently creating an in-game item codenamed WestSausage, which gameshed_ posits could actually mean web-slinger. The mysterious item additionally boasts swinging mechanics, evidenced by text that reads: “Swing Attach Location, Swing Detach Time, Swinging, Swing Accelerate, Swing Jump.” Check out HYPEX’s post in the tweet linked below:
Though the above may sound legitimate, especially given HYPEX’s track record with regards to Fortnite, fans shouldn’t take the Spider-Man leak at face value as of yet. But if Marvel’s most significant heroes have already joined the fun, the web-crawler is the last man standing. Surely, Epic and Marvel are working to remedy this.
Marvel’s Avengers players also patiently await Spider-Man‘s arrival. Speaking with Screen Rant in August, Senior Game Designer Scott Walters confirmed the Queens native remained on track for a 2021 release on PlayStation platforms. As the year continues to wind down, though, specific details on the matter remain under lock and key. Hopefully, that much will change in the very near future.
