The highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest commenced on July 28 in Las Vegas, and amidst the event, Square Enix unveiled a captivating new trailer for the game’s upcoming expansion known as Dawntrail. Below, you can have a glimpse of it.
Dawntrail will mark the fifth major expansion for Final Fantasy XIV and is set to make its debut in the summer of 2024. This expansion will take players on a much-anticipated beach vacation as they explore the picturesque tropical island known as Eorzea’s New World, alongside the game’s central characters. Director Naoki Yoshida, commonly known as Yoshi-P, showcased his unwavering dedication to the game during his keynote presentation, declaring, “I have and will continue to pour my heart and soul into this game until the end of my days, and even beyond.”
The grand adventure will unravel in the majestic land of Tural, a distant realm located to the west of Eorzea. Players will be immersed in a captivating rite of succession, vying for the opportunity to determine Tural’s next ruler. However, this contest has the potential to sow discord among the Scions, injecting an intriguing twist into the storyline.
Dawntrail also ushers in a new central hub city, Tuliyollal, nestled within the diverse region of Yok Tural. Adventurers can eagerly anticipate encounters with new allied tribes such as the Pelupelu and delight in a plethora of new additions, including a level cap increase, fresh job opportunities, dungeons, adversaries, equipment, recipes, and lifestyle content. In a groundbreaking update, the 7.0 patch will enhance the game’s graphics, elevating the visuals of both environments and character designs.
Square Enix further revealed the expansion of the free trial version, now encompassing all content from Heavensward to the inception of Shadowbringers, thereby granting a greater number of players access to the vast world of Final Fantasy XIV.
In an unforeseen finale, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, made a surprise appearance on stage alongside Yoshi-P to announce the long-awaited arrival of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox consoles. Additionally, an exciting crossover with Fall Guys is also in the pipeline.
The Dawntrail expansion is slated for a Summer 2024 release and will be available on PS4, PS5, and PC.
