Facebook Launches An Experimental App For Messaging Close Friends Over Apple Watch

Facebook has launched a new app that lets you keep up with your close friends via your Apple Watch. This new app is called Kit or simply Keep in Touch that works using a combination of QR codes and Facebook’s existing Messenger service.

This new Kit app works similarly to the WhatsApp web. When you first open the app, you need to scan a QR code on your Apple Watch or by entering an access code at fb.com/devices. Once logged in, you will be able to select Messenger contact you want to stay in touch with using Kit.

With this app, you can send a variety of messages with just one tap, including voice recordings, emoji, location sharing, scribbles, and even dictation input. These messages will be sent over the company’s Messenger service. It also allows you to receive and respond to notifications and read your contact’s messages to you.

Well, as we already know that Facebook Messenger is already accessible on Apple Watch. However, this Kit app Kit is focused more on keeping up with close contacts only like best friends or any family member, etc. It offers a completely different user interface and experience from Messenger on Apple Watch.

Kit is also notable as the first app from Facebook’s NPE Team apps to launch on Apple Watch. It appears to be only offered in Canada, at present. Kit app is now available to download on Apple Watch from App Store.
