As everyone knows, Facebook is the parent company of Instagram and WhatsApp who has been bringing a lot of changes to make these platforms better. With a lot more changes to be done in both of these platforms, Facebook is also looking forward to adding its name before the WhatsApp and Instagram. In fact, it has started adding to some screens.
Facebook has started rebranding its popular IM apps as ‘Instagram from Facebook’ and ‘WhatsApp from Facebook’. This move comes as the world’s largest social media company faces greater scrutiny from regulators around the world for more transparency over data privacy practices and how and with whom Facebook shares user information.
As of now, this change has been reflected in only a few places. Currently, Facebook updated its Instagram for iOS with a brand name “Instagram from Facebook’ at the bottom of the setting page. In addition, the ‘About’ page of WhatsApp on Android has also been updated with a brand name as “Facebook for WhatsApp”.
Not only these IM apps, but the company is also updating its other apps including Workplace branding as “Workplace by Facebook”. The employees of Instagram and WhatsApp were recently informed about the changes as antitrust regulators are examining Facebook’s acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp.
Commenting on this, Bertie Thomson, a Facebook spokeswoman said: “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook”.
